Issue with a purchase
Good evening, it’s probably a bit late to get any replies but I need someone to help me. Last night I bought a ticket for a concert. Usually when it comes to tickets some sellers tend to "inflate" the prices; however, this seller had it at a pretty good price overall so I bought it. The problem is that, obviously, name changes take time and to avoid him not delivering it to me or me ending up with a piece of paper with no use, I thought I could buy it a bit ahead of time, and talking with the seller I already sensed something wasn’t right. He told me he would send it to me anyway and that then, as soon as the name can be changed, he would do it, but I told him that if he sends it with fairly long delays I can’t get a refund in case of problems. What did he do? He put it back up for sale, preventing me from canceling the order (since he still hasn’t shipped it) and he even told me that if I want, he’ll send it anyway so that as soon as I file a dispute, he wins it...

You, as the buyer, on eBay can't cancel an order.
Maybe he has more than the ones he sold you.
It depends on what kind of dispute you open, of course if you open it for item not received, an empty envelope is enough. If instead you open it for item not as described.....

OP3 years agoyes, I paid for it right away, I went to the "order details" page and tried clicking "cancel this order" with no result. I talked to the seller but he gave me excuses like saying he can't refund because it takes days and stuff like that..
I don't think he has any other tickets because I saw the same one the day before yesterday, which he then deleted and reposted the listing. I also wrote to him asking why he put it back up for sale and he told me he did it because I didn't trust him..

Mentore3 years agoIf he cancels the order correctly, you get the refund pretty quickly.
But it’s up to him to decide, you can only wait.

OP3 years agoBut can't eBay step in? Because from the replies he gave me, I find it hard to believe he wants to refund me

Mentore3 years agoNo, without any report from you he can't do anything.
If you open a report for item not received and he ships it anyway, eBay can't do anything...
If he ships it, you receive it and open a report for item not as described, you have some chance... but I invite you to read all the links Mario already sent you.
