Refund issues with direct debit

Hello,

I can’t issue a refund via SEPA direct debit, as I’ve always done until a few weeks ago; now, all of a sudden, the system requires me to enter card details.

Customer service says it has always been mandatory to use a card for this type of operation, too bad that until last February I had been making refunds with debit from my checking account.

Do you know what this might depend on and whether there’s a way around it?

If there isn’t enough available in the amount that ebay is about to transfer to you, they ask you to enter the details of a credit card. Probably in the past you had always had sufficient funds to cover it.
