Purchase with proposal accepted but shipping costs changed in invoice
I bought an item for $150 instead of $175 with a proposal and it was accepted (shipping was free).
The problem is that when I go to pay I end up with about 180 dollars because shipping is added (everywhere it says free for my destination) and VAT is added (but how did I know that in my proposal it was not included and in the price exposed yes).
Sounds like a scam to me. Total price I should have to pay is higher then the initial price !!
I can not contact ebay in any way. How can I do ?

Mentore3 years agoIt’s not a scam and it’s certainly nothing new. Since way back in 1972, when you buy in a country outside the EU, you have to pay Italian VAT. This can be collected by the platform (or by the courier upon delivery) and paid to the state.
Since 2021 there are no more exemptions, all imported goods (for any reason and for any value) are taxed. Also remember that upon delivery you will have to pay the courier the duties (since the total exceeds 150 euros) and customs charges.
These are not the seller’s decisions and it’s pointless to contact ebay since these are EU regulations.

Mentore3 years agoGood morning,
free shipping was undoubtedly for local purchases, not for exports.
When importing items from non-EU countries, you NEED TO KNOW that you will pay VAT and, upon delivery, also customs duties and other customs charges.
It’s not written in the listing, but it’s something that... I repeat... you should know.
So you don’t have many alternatives: either pay for your order or don’t pay and you will receive a warning for an unpaid item.
Kind regards.
