Can someone explain the logic of shipping on eBay?

can someone explain to me what sense it makes to offer the seller, when creating the listing, a series of shipping options (moreover, it’s not clear what the prices are based on) if then I decide the actual shipping once the buyer has already paid? For example, can I list an item with book rate shipping and then once the transaction is complete decide to ship with Bartolini or whoever else, or buy a discounted shipping label that costs me at least 5 euros (so in the end I have to cover the extra euro compared with book rate out of my own pocket).
What’s the point of putting a separate shipping cost at this stage if in any case everything is up to the seller and de facto the seller pays it? Wouldn’t it make more sense to include everything in the item price and set shipping to zero? On other sites the platform collects the shipping fee because then it’s the platform that provides the shipping. Here even discounted shipping is deducted from your account... So basically you have to know in advance how much shipping will cost you (you as the seller), otherwise you’re screwed and end up paying it out of your own pocket.
If someone wanted to ship privately without going through this madness, how are they supposed to do it? Which option should be selected?

Mentore1 week agoYou don't need to select any option, just don't buy the label from Packlink (on ebay) and you can use any other service.
What's important is that the shipping used is at least the one promised in the listing (you can't charge for tracked shipping with a 48-hour courier and then use a book mailing service).
If you use tracked shipping, the code must be entered manually on the sale.
