Registering a nonprofit association
Hi,
I'm looking for information on how to register an account in the name of a nonprofit association ODV (volunteer organization), which has a VAT number but carries out “marginal” commercial activity (so it is not registered with the Chamber of Commerce).
eBay support is completely useless, they don't understand the question, they don't know how to answer, they close the chat...
I tried to register a business account but the documentation provided (tax code and VAT number assignment documents from the Revenue Agency) is not good enough: they want a chamber of commerce certificate. But we are not registered with the Chamber of Commerce!
I don't understand whether I have to register the account in the “charity” category: of course we are a “no profit” but it's not like we do things like charity auctions... we're just trying to raise a little money for our institutional activities (cultural).

OP2 years agoMeanwhile I’ve spoken with several eBay support agents, receiving only vague, misleading, useless answers.
I should mention that I wanted to register an account for an ODV association (so, nonprofit).
The charity category only allows online auctions, not fixed-price sales (Buy It Now), and each listing must be approved by eBay. It’s not for us.
I would be willing to open a business account (so, on par with a company, paying the higher applicable fees). The ODV has a VAT number and already carries out so-called "marginal" commercial activity, so it’s compliant but without an obligation to register with the Chamber of Commerce. But eBay requires a chamber of commerce extract for business accounts, which we can’t provide, since we’re not registered with the Chamber of Commerce.
You can’t even make a private account, because it is reserved for natural persons, with first and last name.
In the end we solved it anyway: we’re opening an account on Subito!!

Mentore2 years agoIf it applies to the funding of the OdV, I think the charity section is the only way. I don’t know if the visibility is the same.
