Returned merchandise with a seller who only issues a partial refund of 50%
Summary: *dodemac* started a discussion about handling a dispute with a seller who only issued a 50% partial refund despite expectations of a full refund. marioelegio replied and seems to be actively involved in the dialogue, possibly offering suggestions or sharing similar experiences. The conversation develops further, but the specific details of the responses are not provided.
Good morning everyone, I wanted to ask for your opinion:
I bought a car part for 399.99 euros that arrived with a missing part compared to the photos in the listing. The seller accepted the return, I sent it back at my own expense, and once he received it, he issued me a partial refund of 200.00 euros with the note "item returned without some components". I opened a dispute with photos and an explanation, and eBay closed it in my favor within 24 hours and credited me the remaining 199.99 euros.
Now I was just trying to understand whether the 199.99 was paid by the seller or by eBay, because based on that information my rating of the seller would change. What do you think?

Mentore5 months agoThe first mistake was yours; you should have requested the return through eBay by choosing the correct reason (missing parts).

In these cases the seller has no choice and must accept the return with shipping costs on their side (they must provide you with a prepaid label). The refund can only be full.
Probably, when you contacted eBay, they opened the procedure themselves and forced the seller to issue a full refund. Too bad you ended up paying the return shipping costs.

OP5 months agoThanks for replying to me. But do you think they took the 199.99 100% from the seller, or is there any chance eBay put them up for the customer guarantee thing and the case got closed with buyer and seller both happy?

Mentore5 months agoIf the seller doesn’t want to cooperate, eBay puts them on there right away, then they go after the seller. Normally they don’t let up until they hand it over to a debt collection agency (it may not be worth recovering 1-2 euros, but for 200 they’ll definitely do it).
