Return presented at home compared to online purchase

Dear users, good evening,
I, Dodaggo66, bought an online spare part, namely a drain plug for a sink, from Ebay
online since the seller is in another city (I’m in Bari and he’s in Naples); I was wondering, since the
spare part turned out not to be suitable, I obviously started the return procedure.
On his part, he disputed a couple of things and closed the matter, unfortunately, proposing everything at my
expense as regards the return of the item.
I was wondering, and that’s the reason for this post, since I have to go there on holiday, that is, to Naples, if I were to take it there myself
physically to his business, would anything change? Would I run into an ERROR if there were one?
Would I invalidate the return procedure?
I look forward to your valuable suggestions from those who are more experienced and seasoned than I am....

If you bring it to the store, you can get a cash refund and the matter is closed.
If instead he only wants to refund you via eBay, you need to rely on a courier to certify the return of the item.
