Return of New Coffee Machine Not Working
Hi, I’ve been selling on eBay for years and this is the first time I’ve had a return request.
I sold a NEW coffee machine, and as soon as it arrived today the buyer opened a return request without even contacting me.
I call him right away, to find out what’s going on, and he tells me he didn’t write to me because he doesn’t use eBay often (he has 100-plus positive feedbacks) and he opened a dispute right away. I told him all he had to do was click the contact seller button, since I had also written to him আগে, but oh well.
What’s especially strange is that he has a shop selling coffee products, pods and capsules, so honestly I also expressed my doubts that maybe the machine should have been run through a few test cycles before being sent, and he immediately said no, but not even a mention of the fact that he’s an expert on the matter. We video call him to assess everything and honestly I’m taken aback when I see the shop.
At that point I start suspecting bad faith and a possible return after swapping it with an equivalent machine or something else..
The thing is, among the options there’s no way to refuse it, tomorrow I’ll call eBay, but am I basically forced to refund? Seller protection is now basically zero..

Mentore2 years agoIf the buyer has opened a return request for an item not as described, you are forced to refund.
This is not an eBay rule, but legal regulations that govern all distance sales.

OP2 years agoCoincidentally, I found a photo from 4 years ago, on Google Maps of his shop, with the very same little machine I sold him on full display.. 2+2 always makes four..
