Missing return after refund
Good morning everyone, I’d like to get help from someone who knows more than I do regarding a return.
I sold a working 1980s computer at auction, and the buyer who won it (with few feedbacks) sent me an email saying that in his opinion it has problems and opened a return request, even though I have both photo and video documentation showing the opposite. eBay, according to its policies, which I find questionable, accepted the return. At that point the buyer, for some reason I don’t know, turns the return into a dispute, which eBay naturally allows him to do and rules in the buyer’s favor.
I’m left with my funds frozen and after a few days eBay automatically takes the refund money from my account, but now 5 days have passed since the withdrawal and the buyer is not replying to my emails and the package does not show as shipped back to the sender. What should I do, or what can happen according to eBay rules?? And above all, is there a final deadline in days for the buyer to ship the item back?? Thanks everyone for any reply.

OP2 years agoIt may be incredible to her, but since I've never had to deal with these returns, I'm not really sure how the procedures work; also, if the buyer doesn't reply to my emails, everything becomes even harder... she also doesn't take into account my 420-plus positive feedback, which might suggest that I'm an honest person.... she may be a know-it-all when it comes to eBay rules, but that doesn't mean she can pass judgment on things or on personal opinions. If these are the rules, then I'll go by them too, meaning that either I won't sell on eBay anymore or I'll start buying everything I want just to indulge myself, and then I can ask for a return—what do I care....
Regards and thanks anyway for the reply

Mentore2 years agoIgnorance of the law is no excuse.
I'm not the one making personal judgments; if anything, you're the one who attributed to the platform responsibilities that depended solely on your mistakes in handling the procedure for the return request.

Mentore2 years agoIncredible that, despite 20 years of using a site, people still don't know the basic rules.
On all distance-selling sites, that documentation can't prove anything at all.
Questionable or not, you accepted them by continuing to sell on ebay. So the buyer requested the return and you had three business days to accept it and prepare the return label, which in the case of non-conforming items (by law) is at your expense. You let the time you had available expire without doing what you could have done and, on the fourth day, the buyer rightly asked ebay to step in (.....I don't know for what reason turns the return into a dispute....).
Now, since you didn't bother to handle the return process when you were asked to do so, ebay refunded on your behalf without worrying about the return. You are still the owner of the item (since you refunded the buyer), but ebay will not help you get it back.
You will have to write to the buyer that you intend to get your item back and that you are ready to send them a courier at your own expense or a prepaid label. If, despite this, they refuse the return, you can report them for misappropriation.
