Return and refund request closed without return - refund of expense for returned coupon.

a sale I made was reached by the buyer who disputed the item and requested a return.
I purchased the shipping label for the return and sent it to the customer.
The customer did not send the item back within the deadline set by eBay and so eBay closed the sale as completed.
all good except that I bought the return shipping that was not used and I think it would be fair to get a refund for a shipping label purchased but never used.
