Return request
Summary: The post by babyshop3 titled 'Return Request' does not contain any specific content. Without further details, it is not possible to understand the nature of the request.
Good evening,
I sold an item and the buyer, after receiving the packages, opened a return request for the wrong item. In the photos they attached, they show the two boxes I sent (with the manufacturer’s tamper-evident seals intact, so neither I nor the courier could have had access to the contents); then the items they say were inside them. The thing is, the items photographed were not the ones that were actually in the box, but similar items from the same brand from previous years. I sent photos of the similar product to eBay, I pointed out that one of those photographed products would physically never have fit in the box, and the various differences between the products, which don’t even look alike. I also reported the buyer to eBay for misuse of the return policy.
What can I do? Why do I have to take back, at my own expense, a product that isn’t even mine?
I called eBay support several times and they told me that as a Top Rated seller I’m covered and that if I receive a product different from the one I sent, I should let them know and not refund (they say I’m protected in words, we’ll see in practice), but I’m telling you right now that it’s not what I shipped, so why should I waste money on a courier to pick up a product I’m going to throw away?
I don’t know if, unfortunately or fortunately, this is the first time I’ve run into a scam like this. I’d appreciate suggestions on how I can avoid losing the money for the item, €849
Best regards
Paolo
