Return request for the defect I had reported in the sale
I’d like to understand what protection we have as sellers. Sold a MacBook with a listed defect of horizontal lines showing, which anyway don’t make the Mac unusable. After the buyer received it, he still set up the Mac, linked his Apple ID, then took screenshots and requested a return because “for him” the item should be marked as not working. He sent screenshots where the lines can be seen faintly in full-screen images (only on a white background, not on colored ones), and then a zoomed-in screenshot showing the lines.
I reiterated that this was mentioned in the listing, but he complains because, for him, they’re not negligible. Okay, I want to avoid hassle and I’ll send the return label. But who knows why, after all this fuss, a week later he still hasn’t used the return label. Sure, EBAY gives 3 weeks, but I don’t get it: I sold a MacBook with 50% battery life left, which still works, and if it comes back to me after 3 weeks and in that time he’s used and overused the Mac, I end up with a lost sale, an extra return expense, and a MacBook to resell that’s more worn than before.
Does that make sense? Always hoping it doesn’t come back with some other problem it didn’t have before.... who reimburses me???
