Request to return receipt
Good morning,
after 20 years on eBay and 150-odd successful transactions, I have had my first problem. I sold a projector in perfect working order. The buyer considered it non-working, with visible defects. eBay, without the slightest analysis, sided with the buyer and now I am left with a broken item and the obligation to refund. I’m stunned. In all these years, something like this has never happened. I asked for explanations, but every eBay agent cuts me off and unilaterally closes the dispute. I am truly astonished.

OP2 years agoI keep going because this is really reaching almost ridiculous levels. I get a message saying the dispute is closed, refund in their favor, shipping costs lost, because they received the shipping code from the buyer (shipping handled not by me) and delivery adventure, too bad that nothing was delivered to me! I'm more and more stunned.

OP2 years agoTo be more specific, the user requested a refund after 28 days. I had offered them an in-person exchange, which they had initially accepted and then refused. I am certain I sold it without defects. Now if I receive it with issues? What can I do to make my case?

Mentore2 years agoYou can try to appeal, but keep in mind that you have no proof of what you’re claiming. On eBay, two opposing versions of the problem were submitted, and in these cases they side with the buyer.

OP2 years agoI have earlier projection photos that didn't show the defect. Unfortunately, after 28 days and a shipment, anything could have happened.

Mentore2 years agoThe photos don't really prove anything, you could easily have photographed one item and sent another, or the item may have broken after the photos or during shipping.

OP2 years agoHow could the buyer have broken it? So why am I automatically in the wrong? The situation seems really ridiculous to me. So eBay allows someone to buy a product, use it for 28 days, possibly tamper with it, and get fully refunded. Without any dispute, since the buyer is always right and the seller has to refund and stay quiet. Good to know!! That way I’ll know how to handle future purchases.

Mentore2 years agoIf you run into a dishonest buyer, regardless of the platform, in distance selling there’s no escape.

OP2 years agoSome time ago there were 7 days to do it.. the guarantee if it was liked. Now instead they require you to return it. Only if you don't like the item is it not allowed. As if this could be useful... if I don't like it I'll give it a hammer blow and that's it. Before, selling on eBay was possible. With these rules I think I'll turn to other platforms. I'll keep buying here, though, and take advantage of these absurd rules.
