Very strange requests and buyer user reliability?
Hello everyone, a user made me a strange offer (which lasts 24h). First of all, I wanted to know if I accept the offer, is he OBLIGED then to make the purchase? And obviously, being on eBay, am I 100% protected?
Second thing (super suspicious!!) he writes to me "I want this item shipped to my cousin in Italy as a surprise birthday gift and I will send you an additional payment of €200 to help me buy a gift card and wrap it together with the item. I can do €30 more for the extra service. Is that okay?"
Obviously it smells from a mile away, but my doubt is that if he had made me this offer in private I would have already closed the communication BUT he made me a direct eBay offer and, moreover, if I go to his profile it has existed for many years (he has only bought).
Any advice?
Thanks a lot to anyone who replies.

Kind regards.

OP2 years agoOk thanks for the reply. So I’m assuming that if they make an offer through eBay there’s no obligation on their part to buy ... ok, I’ll stay on the lookout (I thought fraudulent offers only came via message and then moved “outside” eBay, instead here there were official actions “inside” eBay, like making an offer or something else). Thanks.
