Good morning, a buyer bought an item from me that unfortunately I can no longer ship. Since I didn't enter a payment method, the amount was not credited to me, but I still have to refund the buyer. How does it work? Do I refund them out of my own pocket and then does ebay reimburse me?

Exactly... but remember to update your account with an IBAN, otherwise ebay will never be able to pay you your earnings.
