Buyer refund and resulting negative feedback
I sold a book with untrackable shipping chosen by the buyer (book rate), and after 42 days the buyer opens a dispute for item not received. Ebay naturally sides with the buyer because there is no tracking as proof of shipment. After receiving a refund, the buyer gives me negative feedback a week later. Is it legal that after the dispute was resolved in his favor, he still has the right to leave feedback????

Mentore3 years agoIf you offer an economical, untracked shipping method, it is just the result of a sales choice...
The feedback does not seem to violate any eBay rule and the legality you are referring to maybe you should direct it to the type of sale... unusual... that you carry out with a private account.
Kind regards.

OP3 years agoOdd? Well if you look in the shipping section, eBay itself adds Posta4 or book mail to the list of those, neither of which are trackable. I offer a range of shipping options for every budget, but I also add in the listings that whoever chooses certain shipping methods must be responsible for what they pay.

Mentore3 years agoI’m not referring to the shipments...
Private account... 2600 items sold since the account was opened... 931 active listings... around 60/70 monthly sales to date... and that’s not unusual for a private seller??

Mentore3 years agoAny clause against the law that you include in the listings is considered unfair and therefore completely ineffective. The responsibility to offer untracked shipping is exclusively yours.

Mentore3 years agoYou know very well that you are responsible for whatever kind of shipping you offer; the fact that it was chosen by the buyer is irrelevant (your complaint would only have made sense if a different shipping option from the ones offered had been requested).
If you don't want these problems, you need to remove the ordinary mail shipping option.
You can try asking for the feedback to be removed, since along with the refund that would be too punitive, but I doubt the buyer will want to help you (if it really happened that: The seller blamed me for choosing a product with cheap shipping.)

OP3 years agoto be honest, the buyer blamed me for my shipping being expensive, when I apply Poste Italiane’s rates, I can’t exactly take a loss.

OP3 years agoEbay removed my negative feedback, with the refund everything should be reset to zero, that should be the rule.
thanks

Mentore3 years agoNo, sometimes a refund isn’t enough, especially if it’s a refund forced by eBay.
You need to take care of customers and never blame them for your own mistakes.

Mentore3 years agoThat's not how it works, the report on your account remains, the negative performance is still counted on your account... so the "rule" should be to use the marketplace correctly!
Kind regards.
