Disputed reimbursement
More than a week after the item was delivered, the buyer opened a dispute (without first contacting me to ask for any kind of info) because they did not receive the package. The shipment is a registered book mailing, so it is trackable, and it shows as delivered to a tobacco shop at the buyer's request. In a message sent to me after opening the dispute, the buyer claims that the pickup point did not have the package and that they were even told it was a Bartolini package; correcting them, I invited them to go to the relevant postal center. As the dispute went on, I provided proof of the shipment and of the package's delivered status since it could be tracked. Ebay nevertheless decided to charge me a refund because I did not provide the necessary proof that the package was actually delivered, charging me a refund and telling me to ask Poste Italiane for information myself. I went to the post office to ask for information, and they even printed me a sheet with the full shipping history, and the package shows as delivered by the assigned postman, and since it was delivered there should also be a signature of the person who picked up the package. I have no way to get the package back since it shows as delivered, and I don't see why I should refund an item for which no insured shipping was requested. And I have no way to reopen the dispute since it is already closed. Any advice?

Mentore2 years agoThe serious mistake was sending a registered letter to a pickup center. According to BRT rules, the fermopoint, which is part of its network, should not have accepted it and the mail carrier should not have delivered it there. It was a registered letter and only the addressee (or someone authorized by them with written authorization) could have picked it up.
There were three mistakes: yours, the mail carrier's, and the fermopoint's.
eBay's decision is formally correct, so I’d say it’s almost impossible to appeal.
The package should be returned to the sender if no one picks it up. I would still try contacting the tobacconist's shop to try to figure out whether it ever arrived or not.
