Incomplete refund
Hello, a few days ago I contacted customer service for a return of an item that I had not yet received, but since more than 30 days had passed I could not request it normally from the purchases page. I was told to proceed privately with the seller via bank transfer and so far so good, the seller refunded my purchase but not all of it because part of the expense had already been retained by ebay. I would like to know whether ebay, since in the end the transaction was canceled having requested a refund, can give me back the missing part of the purchase in its possession, even by means of vouchers.

OP2 years agoYes, but I mean, with the seller I had no problem and he refunded me; the missing part of the refund is with eBay because it’s the usual fee they keep. What I’m wondering, though, is whether, since the transaction has in fact been canceled, eBay can keep that part of the money or return it if I provide all the transfer details and screenshots.
To give an example: a purchase of 100 euros, 90 to the seller and 10 to eBay (these are random amounts). The seller gives me back the 90 euros, can eBay keep the 10?
Anyway, tomorrow I’ll write to customer service.

Mentore2 years agoTo be fair, the seller should have refunded you the full amount.
So if you didn’t use payments guaranteed by eBay and didn’t use eBay’s proper procedures, then, as is only right, eBay won’t help you.
Kind regards.

Mentore2 years agoEven the refund procedure via bank transfer is unusual; if more than 30 days have passed, as said, ebay can no longer help you.
Kind regards.
