Reimbursement of return costs for non-compliant product purchased from an overseas seller

If I buy a product from abroad, but it arrives non-compliant, will I also be refunded for the return shipping costs or do those remain my responsibility?

If it arrives not as described, you must insist that the seller sends you a prepaid return label (a label purchased by him at his own expense). If he doesn't, you can ask eBay to intervene.
