Removal of feedback
Good morning, I am writing as the buyer of a car part because the related transaction, given how events unfolded, was the subject of a justified and well-founded negative review from me, removed following (I assume) a request from the seller who, among other things, used a trick to get it removed.
Moreover, I found the removal of the feedback unfair and unjustified, as it was well-founded and useful to the community. Let me explain what happened.
I bought an alternator because I needed one for my car and the price offered by the seller in question was good. After making sure (using the OEN codes published by the seller) that it matched my old alternator and therefore was fully compatible with my car (since they were identical and had the same OEN number), I went ahead with the purchase and, as I usually do, paid immediately.
After a few days, I received a message from the seller asking me to provide my car’s license plate number to check compatibility.
At that point, I explained that the part they had sold had the same number as mine and that I had therefore already checked compatibility through the information they had provided. I still communicated the license plate number.
A few minutes later I received a phone call from the seller who, to my surprise, told me that the part I had bought was not compatible with my car, but that the correct part was available at a higher price. I would have had to add 90.00 euros (not a small amount!!!) by bank transfer and in any case outside of eBay (in violation of your rules). I told the person I was speaking to that I was not interested in buying the other part they had proposed, but that I wanted to receive the one I had already purchased.
This person told me that they would not ship the part and that they would cancel the transaction and issue a refund.
There was then correspondence between me and the seller, where I asked for the "sales contract" to be respected and therefore for the purchased part to be sent, while they maintained that they would cancel the transaction.
I contacted customer support, who suggested I open a dispute for item not received, requesting shipment of the item I had purchased. So I did.
Also curious about this seller’s strange behavior, I went to look at their feedback, where I discovered that what they had tried to do with me, they had done with many other people (probably achieving their goal in some cases... making money).
Annoyed by the treatment received from these people and in the full belief that I was doing something useful for the eBay community, I left a detailed and well-reasoned negative review for the seller in question.
After a few days I received the refund, so I went to check the outcome of the dispute and discovered that the seller had provided, in the order details, a tracking number that, after checks, turned out to be a shipment made with the courier SDA and related to a shipment that has nothing to do with me.
Knowing eBay’s rules, since I had also been a seller in the past, I figured that the tracking number had been entered in order to get the feedback removed. AND THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED.
The anomalies found:
1) the presence of a tracking number unrelated to my transaction;
2) the presence of a refund from the seller that rules out delivery of the purchased item.
Now I ask myself, how is it possible that whoever had to examine the request to remove my feedback did not notice the trick used by the seller (having provided an incorrect tracking number not related to my transaction)? Or should I think that this was intentional?
I tried sending an email to eBay’s dedicated service, but it all ends in an error. I also tried filing a complaint against the removal of the feedback, but the same thing happens: error and no complaint. I contacted customer support again and they tell me they are not компетent in this matter. What else can I do?
Thank you

Mentore3 years agoPut your mind at ease... the feedback was evidently removed for violating eBay rules or because it was verbally defamatory.
There’s no point digging your heels in over things that border on paranoia... the refund was issued because the item was not shipped; if you had entered the tracking, it would have only blocked the request with review by eBay.
A frank piece of advice... if things don’t always go the way we want, let’s just accept it...
a kind regards.

OP3 years agoSo I wonder what the point is of leaving negative feedback (and I mean, fairly negative, without insulting, defamatory terms, etc.) that is useful to the community if the seller can get it removed through a trick? In fact, the very fact that this seller used a trick to get a feedback removed that highlighted his "irregular" conduct says a lot about him. Anyway, on eBay sellers are what matter

Mentore3 years agoThe feedback was deleted following the refund, not the provision of a shipping code, even if it had been related to your purchase it would not have been enough
