Resolving an issue with an object not being sent
Hello,
I’m putting my case to you because I don’t understand what to do. In June 2022 I bought a motorcycle back protector backpack for €270; the listing said it was in stock, ready for immediate delivery. After a few minutes I received an email from the seller telling me that the backpack was not physically in their warehouse but in the supplier’s warehouse and that it would take 4-5 days to get it. After a week I received another email telling me that the backpack was no longer available even in the supplier’s warehouse and that the delivery date was October; so goodbye planned vacation, where was I supposed to find another backpack at the last minute with only two weeks to go?!
I did not cancel the order because I would still have needed the backpack later on anyway.
In October I contacted them again and was told that the backpack would not be available until February 2023. For the same reason I did not cancel the order, hoping to receive it.
In February I contacted them again and a sort of evasiveness in replying to messages began. I contacted them again in early March; in an initial email they replied that they still had no availability, but shortly after they told me that they had one piece available but at the price of €411.
unfortunately I can’t afford that kind of amount and I asked for my money to be refunded. They told me to open a dispute through eBay, but the system only lets me do it for orders dating back 90 days and not before.
how can I solve this problem? How can I get my money back?
Thanks for the support and sorry for the long message.

OP3 years agoI trusted them, I thought they were decent people.
Thanks a lot to everyone for the clarification.
So it doesn't make sense for me to try contacting eBay directly? Even though I have the slightest idea how to do it

Mentore3 years agoTo contact ebay: https://www.ebay.it/help/account/contacting-ebay-customer-service/contatta-ebay?id=4379&st=3&pos=1&query=Contatta%20eBay&intent=contatta&lucenceai=lucenceai&docId=HELP1326
It doesn't make much sense, but they won't ban you for that.

Mentore3 years agoThe only way to solve the problem is to contact your bank for a chargeback... if, of course, you paid by card...
It’s too late for all the other options.
Kind regards.

OP3 years agoI paid via PayPal

Mentore3 years agoYou let too much time pass. On eBay you have at most 30 days from the original presumed delivery date.
On PayPal you have 180 days from payment (so this protection has also expired). Your only hope was with a credit card, you could have done a chargeback within a year of payment.
