Report new login
Good morning everyone, here I am again after a long time.
For my personal choice (I never agreed with the requirement to use Paypal as the only payment method, having always used bank transfer exclusively to my full satisfaction and that of the sellers), I have completely stopped buying for more than 3 years now.
However, I continue to visit this platform to stay updated on the price trends of the items I still collect (vinyl records) and also because I am always interested in the topics of this forum (I even took a look today).
That said, the reason for my reappearance is that I received - both within my account and in my email inbox - a message informing me that a new login to the aforementioned account was detected today, made from an area about 50 kilometers from my home, with a recommendation to change the password.
The message seems completely authentic, but I still have some doubts.
We are in fact living in times of continuous scams on various online sites, so before proceeding with the suggested change, I would like to hear your opinion on the matter.
I would point out that, given my inactivity, my account does not contain (and should not contain...) any sensitive data regarding banking relationships, and that at the slightest sign of abusive use I would have no problem proceeding immediately to close it.
Thank you and kind regards.

Mentore1 year agoGood morning and welcome back.
If you've changed devices or your PC, the new login alert is normal...
The “zone” where it says the login took place is the location of the server of the IP you're connected with, try checking here:

OP1 year agoThanks sika700 for the reply.
Something strange is happening: about half an hour ago I prudently changed the password and not even two minutes later I received another message similar to yesterday’s.
I think eBay is reporting nothing other than the logins I myself made both yesterday and this morning.
Actually, as you suppose, on 9/10 u.s. I replaced the PC, but I’m surprised that eBay only noticed it yesterday despite my repeated logins to the site afterward.
I opened the link you attached but, not being a techie, I wasn’t able to get much out of it.
I only noticed that there my browser is reported as Chrome xxx.0.0.0, I’m the one indicating xxx, in its place there is a three-digit number that also appears in eBay’s alerts ("Windows Edge device xxx.0").
Probably, by changing the password again, I risk getting into a vicious cycle like Groundhog Day, so unless there are new developments, I consider the matter closed.
Thanks again and all the best.

Mentore1 year agoYou're welcome...
In the link indicated, besides the various information about your connection, you’ll find the line "Location"... the check you can do is whether it matches the report sent by eBay... if it’s the same, it means it was you and you don’t need to worry about it.
Kind regards.

OP1 year agoEbay tells me that the logins are being made from San Fedele, a place 50 km from Savona, the city where I live.
Your link regarding my IP indicates Genoa (literally in English).
Cheerful!
I’m about to head out, I can come back to the topic this afternoon.
Regards.
