When buying a product from Ebay, with a price over 150 euros and shipping from China, do I risk having to pay customs duties and VAT? Thanks a lot.

Also consider these two things:

New: other (see details)New: other (see details) “new w/o original package” (w/o stands for without, To me the fact that it isn’t sold as new and that it’s without Shimano packaging would make me have some doubts about its complete originality).
The customer is responsible for the safe return of the item in the original packaging and will bear the cost of ALL carriage charges involved. A 15% charge will be deducted from the sale price to cover the administration and relisting charges. This in the EU would be an abusive clause and therefore illegal, and together with this one (equally illegal, for a professional seller): Return information: The seller will not accept returns are however used to discourage any attempt to return the item (even if you realized it’s not what was promised?).

Since July 2021 there have been no exemption thresholds, so more than a risk, it’s a certainty.

Up to 150 euros, VAT is collected by the platform at the time of payment and upon delivery you only pay the courier’s fees for customs clearance assistance (from 5 to 20 euros, depending on the various couriers’ rates).

Over 150 euros, you pay everything upon delivery since duties have to be applied, then VAT and the courier’s fees are calculated. Consider an extra cost of between 30 and 35% of the total (item + shipping costs).
