Comical situation, how should we proceed?
Summary: The discussion titled "Comical situation, how should we proceed?" mainly involves glitch010 and sika700, with marioelegio participating briefly. Despite the title suggesting a comical situation, no details are available about the exact content of the discussion because all responses are marked as "None." The conversation spans several days in May 2025, suggesting an ongoing thread of communication between the main users.
Starting from the beginning:
on March 12, an item is purchased from me with an optional request to ship it via BRT; since it was a package that was too light, I was forced to use the postal service on March 13.
On March 25 (a full 13 days later) the post office states that "the recipient's address is incorrect or incomplete"
At that point I contact the buyer to ask for clarification on this, and when I receive no reply I turn to the post office to ask for information; after several days in which the shipment seems to have stopped or been lost, I open a ticket.
On May 5 (after almost 2 months), while waiting to receive the correct refund, the package is returned to me as if nothing had happened.
Today, May 8, to my surprise I am informed that a claim has been opened for an item not received, with a note from the customer about the delivery time.
Aside from the absurd handling of the whole matter, shouldn't I at least get a refund for a shipment that failed through no fault of my own so I can try sending it again?

OP1 year agoAfter detailing the whole issue, I also got the refund I was due.

OP1 year agoHere are the ones that work well....
We’re sorry, unfortunately no refunds are предусмотрены, since this is a return for delivery issues caused by an incomplete/incorrect address.
In this case, no return fees will be charged.
2 months of waiting and 5 euros lost, great job!
my fault even when I shipped an item that disappeared into thin air or the buyer was trying to pull a fast one?
Is there by any chance some kind of protection for the seller?

OP1 year agoSorry, but I’m the one here who’s been way too patient...
the buyer was contacted immediately after the failed delivery to find out what had happened, maybe there was a problem with the address, same thing with the postal service.
I waited for everyone to do their job, no response from either side.
After opening the ticket, I handled everything as if the problem were my fault, without receiving any support at all from anyone.
Regarding the refund to the customer, we sorted it out, I contacted them privately and I’ll send the item at my own expense with another courier, hoping that at least this time there will be proper cooperation from everyone.

Mentore1 year agoAnd you got it wrong... you should have refunded and that’s it... if he doesn’t close the return request, you’ll be giving him a nice gift!
Also in these cases it’s always good practice to check who made the mistake with the address; if you shipped to the same one again, the problem may persist, and if the problem was caused by the buyer, it was him who should have paid you for a new shipment!
Protection for sellers doesn’t exist... you just have to be careful and try not to make the same mistake again...
Take care.

OP1 year agoAddress already verified, the buyer is a professional, everything is way too clear..
Incompetent people who don’t know how to do their job and then pass the buck to someone who has nothing to do with it, washing their hands of it. Strange that the recipient wasn’t notified on the days when the problem came up.
If that parcel was already in the destination city, why in these 2 months was nothing done to resolve the situation in the most obvious way, namely by delivering it to him? At most I’ll ask him if he wants to reimburse me for the second shipment since they accused him of being the one responsible.
We have phone numbers and we often give directions that aren’t taken into consideration.
Months ago I even attached the map to a seller so that his courier could make a delivery to an address that he seemed unable to find.. That’s how bad things are.
sika700
Mentore1 year agoAnd how did you manage to verify the address if you "say" the buyer never replied?
There are no "professional" buyers, only professional sellers... and there is absolutely no way to verify remotely whether the recipient's name was correctly listed on the intercom or whether it was supposed to be delivered to a shop with no indication.
With all possible logic, a courier has no obligation at all to call a recipient by phone, so rest easy because there was nothing clear about it at all.
So all these complaints should be directed to the postal service you used... neither the forum nor eBay will ever be able to help you.
Have a good evening.

OP1 year agoHis data are online, he is a doctor, a professional in that sense.
Complaining to the postal service is useless; whoever answers follows the (wrong) instructions they were given, it’s a waste of time. The logic is that if you can’t deliver a package, you should at least notify someone (sender or recipient) so the problem can be resolved; with the tracking and its notes you can do very little.
But then, between email, mailbox, and phone, does it seem normal to you that no one notified the recipient?
In a normal world, two delivery attempts are made (sometimes calling first too) and on the third a notice is left for pickup with the possibility of release. You don’t blame someone who has nothing to do with it when you’re incompetent without even providing proof of what you claim.
sika700
Mentore1 year agoEven if the data is online, that doesn’t mean it’s correct!
If you need to deliver to a doctor’s office but you only enter the first and last name of a made-up doctor associated with that office, but who has nothing to do with the name of the office itself, there’s the problem... there’s the error!
Most likely you’ve only made a very few shipments and so you have little experience in the field, and if the courier can’t find a match with the address because he’d have to make two or three trips, where would he leave the notice?
He reports it right away as a problem and it is the responsibility, or at least should be the concern, of the recipient or sender to check the reason.
So with couriers there is no logic at all.
Good afternoon.

OP1 year agoSorry to contradict you, but the package was just delivered to the same address as the first shipment; I received confirmation directly from the doctor.

Mentore1 year agoThe buyer was very patient.
I’d say refund him and then think about how to take it out on the postal service.
