Paradoxical situation created by the eBay-shipping platforms and Bartolini
Summary: nicolamos3 discusses a problem with a tracked shipment bought on eBay and handled by the Bartolini courier, which was not delivered. Even though the address was correct, an error in the municipality suffix caused the problem. Both the buyer and the seller acted correctly, but the faulty interaction between the platforms created the complication. After complaints were sent to eBay, Packlink, and Bartolini, the issue still hasn’t been resolved. nicolamos3 shares the experience to warn the community about possible disputes between buyers and sellers.
Good evening, I’m bringing up again an old problem of a failed delivery of a tracked shipment purchased with Ebay-spedizioni and shipped with Bartolini. After a month, the package is still sitting at the branch because of errors in the recipient’s address, according to the courier. In reality, after about ten days I managed to verify with the buyer (who replied late) that the address is correct, except that when creating the label the system indicated a different hamlet of the destination municipality as the hamlet (the difference is a suffix -ino) but with the same ZIP code. That was enough to cause the failed delivery. I contacted Ebay support and at first I was told that in case of an incorrect address all the problems were on the buyer, but in this case both I and the recipient followed the correct procedures and it is clear that the responsibility lies with the various platforms that interacted badly. Following these issues, having finally received a response from the buyer, I took action by sending complaints both to packlink and to Bartolini, but even after 18 days of back and forth the matter has still not been resolved. I am posting this, and I apologize for the length, to inform the community about a type of problem that could lead to buyer-seller disputes even though each party did their part.
