Customs duties and VAT for purchases from Japan
Hello, I wanted to ask for some information, I would be interested in buying this item on eBay shipped from Japan, https://www.ebay.it/itm/274637439288 I wanted to know if it is correct that customs is paid only above 150 euros, and as for the 22% VAT, to be added to the total purchase amount, is the payment made directly to the courier at the time of delivery? So theoretically, in the case of this specific purchase, I should only pay the 22% VAT? I wanted to get some precise information so I can understand whether it is worth buying the product or not. Mentore2 years agoNo, under €150 you don't pay customs duties, while customs and the carrier's related charges always have to be paid; it's hard to quantify because they depend on who will take over the delivery in Italian territory.
As for VAT, if eBay doesn't collect it at the time of purchase, you'll have to pay that to the delivery person as well.
