Excessively high shipping costs
Good morning to anyone who will read me. I have sadly noticed that many sellers add very high shipping costs, often far above the actual cost of shipping. An intervention on this matter would be necessary. It is absolutely not right that all costs are passed on to the buyer. Many sneaky people set shipping costs of even 10 euros and then send it by ordinary 1 standard post; it is clear that this is done to drive up the item’s price. In addition, there are sellers who demand that feedback be left only after they have received it. Another unfair practice. The seller receives payment immediately, so it would be good practice and above all a good principle of courtesy to thank the person who spends money in your store. It is equally clear that the buyer leaves their feedback after receiving the item. Only then will they be able to assess whether the item received matches the description. I hope that Ebay will take this into account and see whether it can intervene where possible.

Mentore3 years agoGood morning,
unfortunately eBay doesn’t read here... and so, since this is a public forum, only opinions on the matter can be posted.
For overly high shipping costs, it’s enough to avoid sellers like that; after all, it’s not possible to “play” with that cost to avoid eBay fees.... and it’s obvious that such costs are passed on to the buyer, no sane seller gives away shipping, the time it takes, or the materials used to ship the package you buy!
As for feedback, since it is voluntary and by no means mandatory, eBay allows sellers to leave it either first or second, so it’s just a personal matter that is very far from the issue of politeness or entitlement... it is and remains entirely optional!
Even for the seller who chooses to leave it last, it can be a way to evaluate the transaction as a whole... payment alone is not all there is!
Kind regards.

OP3 years agoToo bad Ebay doesn’t read.
That said, I’ve stated my opinion; I accept yours, but I don’t share it.
Good manners and politeness remain, for me, key pillars in every sector.
It’s as if you went to a bar, paid for your coffee, and the cashier didn’t thank you or even say hello. I’d like to remind you that whoever sells and has a physical or online shop, makes money thanks to the customers who buy.
This way of doing things is increasingly turning what used to be Customers into..........Users, with all the negative consequences that entails.
Thank you and enjoy the rest of your day.

Mentore3 years agoThe problem from my point of view (as a seller) is that many times only courtesy is expected from the seller, without thinking that courtesy should be shown first by the person who uses... or who enters the bar (to use your example)... one of the services offered.
To keep using your example, I don't think it would be acceptable if someone walks into my bar without saying hello and, when I hand her the coffee she asked for, she doesn't thank me...
So I think it's just a matter of common sense... a positive gesture always has an equally positive reaction.
Best regards.

OP3 years agoDear Sir/Madam,
I would like to know what action I, the buyer, should take in addition to immediate payment for the item or the auction won?
I show my fairness by honoring the commitment I have made as quickly as possible. What else should I do?
I understand that, being in the seller category, you are naturally inclined to defend it. But I can assure you that many in that category do not have your level of courtesy and honesty. You rightly respond according to how you act. I have no doubt about your professionalism. But many are not. They think they are clever, shrewd, often also very arrogant and also ignorant. Thank you for the exchange of views. I wish you a peaceful day.

Mentore3 years agoThe answer... from my point of view... could be very simple: ask for nothing!
Kind regards.

OP3 years agoIt would be like saying..........turn the other cheek !!!!!! 😱
That sounds pretty foolish to me, no offense.
I pay !!!!!!!! I have every right and duty to demand it.

Mentore3 years agoBut you pay to receive an item... you don't pay to get feedback whenever you feel like it!
That's the claim I'm referring to!
Kind regards.
