I'm trying to figure out whether I'm going to be the victim of a scam on eBay.I sold an item to a buyer with zero feedback who has had an account since 2022 and has no items for sale.At first I thought about canceling the sale, but I decided to wait and see if the payment went through and whether they replied to messages. After a few days the payment was made, and eventually they replied to a message asking whether it would be possible to ship the package the following week. I then shipped the package via UPS, photographed every stage of the process of packing the item, and uploaded it in the messages along with the photo of the packed item and the shipping label. I received a thank-you message from the buyer. That was the last message I received.The item was shipped, it arrived in the destination country after clearing customs both in Italy and in the destination country... then the problems started. The package tracking tells me that the recipient name for the address is incorrect and the package will be held in storage until the issue is resolved. So, I tried contacting the buyer through eBay messages... Nothing. Silence. Every day I ask the buyer to verify that the address provided is correct. No response.I tried contacting UPS (not easy) to find out what I can do. They told me they need the buyer's email or phone number (present in the customs document). I gave UPS everything that might help unlock the delivery. At the same time, every day I try to write to the buyer to keep them informed. Still nothing.Worried that this might be some kind of scam, I contacted eBay customer service and an agent told me that it is the buyer's responsibility to provide a correct address and, in this case, if the package is not delivered and the buyer requests a refund, eBay will side with me.However, after reading some of the experiences here, I fear that this is a scam and that I will end up being the victim of some scam.What do people recommend?
