Customs clearance fees
Hi guys,
an item I bought recently arrived, but it asks me to pay customs fees that I wasn’t aware of at the time of purchase, so just to be safe I refused it, so at worst I can pick it up later. What really annoys me is mainly that if I had known I’d have to pay 25% more for customs clearance, I would have bought from sites that would have arrived much sooner than 33 days and, in total, paid less too...
Have you had experiences like this? What do you recommend I do? Pay the price for the lesson or will eBay support help me if I report it?
Thanks a lot in advance

Mentore3 years agoHello,
with all due respect, what are you trying to report?
If you buy from vendors outside the EU, it’s you who NEEDS to know that the package goes through customs and that therefore, in addition to Italian VAT, you will also have to pay customs fees and any duties!
These are things you will never find written clearly, since each individual seller cannot know who will buy their product... but it is the buyer who NEEDS to know it!
On top of that, you made a huge mistake by refusing the package, you burned your eBay Buyer Protection, and if there are any problems you’ll have to handle it on your own... and very likely the package will go back to the seller, with you unable to claim anything!
Information is the basis of everything.
Kind regards.
