Good morning everyone, today I received, on September 19, 8 days late, a package ordered on eBay that was supposed to come from the United States (shipping costs $34). It was delivered to me from Zurich (CH) with the addition of €82 in customs fees + €7 in Italian postal fees!! The order did not specify that I had to pay any of these charges. Now the package is being held at the post office while I wait to sort out this unpleasant surprise (I obviously did not pay the amount requested). Can someone tell me how to proceed/who to contact/if I actually have to pay? Thanks!🙏

If you go to the shipping details, everything is written there ....

Here it specifies that everything is paid in advance. Keep in mind that if they haven't been paid and you refuse delivery, you lose any right to a refund.

OP11 months agoThanks Mario! I tried to do a simulation to buy the same item and I must have misunderstood the details (which I’m attaching). I’m not very used to international purchases on e-commerce platforms, so I must have misunderstood... I confused the shipping cost shown in the summary with the import costs! But I have to say it’s not a very clear summary; they should explicitly list the customs costs and not repeat the shipping costs already shown on the same page under the item price. Anyway, at this point all I can do is go to the post office and pay the amount requested. 😞

OP11 months agobut in my defense I have to say that in the purchase confirmation document I received by email ( and in the various purchase steps that I took screenshots of ) it isn’t specified that taxes, VAT, etc. could be added. For clarity, the summary email should have included a line with the amount to be paid upon delivery. Order placed in August... maybe in the meantime they made changes to the pages?
