Customs duties and VAT
Hi, I bought a used guitar for $670, but I found out it’s being shipped from Japan. Will I have to pay an extra tax when the package arrives? If so, it wouldn’t be worth it for me, because it would end up costing as much as a new one. What should I do?

Mentore3 years agoThe fact that it was being sold in $ should have made you think. Anyway, it’s too late now, if you’ve paid you can’t go back. If you refuse to pay customs, you lose the payment and the item.
On all goods coming from non-EU countries, VAT is paid (from Japan, duties are absent or very low) and you pay the courier’s fees for customs clearance.
