Customs duties, cameras from Japan.
Summary: The discussion concerns the importance of customs duties on cameras imported from Japan. libe-82 and marioelegio discuss this topic, without any further specific details provided.
I have often wanted to buy cameras from Japan, but I always changed my mind because of the unknown customs duties. However, after some research that was later confirmed, I read that Italy has made agreements with Japan regarding trade and that even for these kinds of products there should be no charges in that regard, apart from VAT to be paid depending on the value purchased. Can anyone tell me something more specific? If you have experience with these kinds of purchases, did you pay customs? Thanks.

Mentore9 months agoEven without duties, there is still VAT.
If the total value then exceeds 150 euros, the courier collects the VAT along with their own fees.
On top of that, there’s the issue of warranty. These are parallel imports, so the Italian service network does not recognize the warranty.

Mentore9 months agoIf the duties have actually been brought down to zero, yes.
Up to 150 euros, eBay collects the 22% VAT without fees.
Over 150 euros, the VAT is collected by the courier. The fees range from 5 to 25 euros depending on the courier and the value of the goods.
