Dispute resolution times
Summary: hirosciro reported a dispute on eBay regarding a scam involving an undelivered smartphone. Instead of the phone, a generic charger was sent to a different address. eBay customer support said that a specialized team needs to review the case, a process that could take longer than usual. In the meantime, the seller’s account is getting negative reviews from other users. hirosciro is considering going through PayPal to resolve the situation.
Good evening,
I opened a dispute for a scam involving a smartphone that was never sent by the seller. In its place, the “supposed shipment” contained a generic charger, and the recipient had a different first name, last name, and address from mine. For this reason too, it was impossible for me to pick it up at the post office. After chatting with eBay customer service and proving that the above was intentionally incorrect, an operator told me that “since it’s a high-value item, a specialized eBay team needs to approve my decision. The review may take a bit longer than the usual 2 business days, so I ask you to be patient.” This was on August 17 and it already seems like a bit much to me. Meanwhile, the seller’s account is racking up negative reviews from other scammed users. How long can it take before they make a decision? I’m strongly tempted to bypass them through PayPal...
