Fraud attempts by alleged buyers
I put a Mixer up for sale both here and on Subito. On both platforms I only received messages from scam attempts. Given that the listing clearly states that shipping is not provided, everyone who contacted me tried to persuade me to arrange shipping off-platform. Everyone. And all of them gave me a phone number that I obviously never called.
The latest attempt here on Ebay even plays on panic, telling me that, as agreed (which was never agreed), they made the payment (without having any details provided by me and, after checking with customer support to be sure, not even using the official channel) and so now they expect me to call them to arrange shipping. This phantom user contacted me with two different accounts that I am reporting here.
Despite me blocking the user, they keep writing and still insisting that I accepted the payment. They may continue to ignore it, but I would like greater security regarding users.
Private individuals selling items are certainly not multinationals with an IT department at their disposal. And protection should come from the platforms. Instead, we end up spending hours dodging scammers while the items remain unsold.

Mentore3 years agoWith all due respect, when you accepted the User Agreement when you registered, it clearly states what ebay can and cannot do... I’ll quote a few:
- eBay does not own the goods listed for sale or sold through the platform, does not transfer ownership of items from seller to buyer, has no role and is not involved in the buying and selling that takes place between sellers and buyers. The sales contract is concluded directly between buyers and sellers. eBay is not an "auctioneer" in the traditional sense of the term.
- eBay does not review user listings or user-submitted content on the sites. We may facilitate dispute resolution through our programs; however, eBay has no control over, does not guarantee, and assumes no responsibility for the existence, quality, safety, and legality of the advertised items; the truthfulness or accuracy of user content, listings, and Feedback; buyers' ability to pay the price of the items; users' ability to sell, buy, and bid. eBay cannot ensure that a buyer or seller will actually be able to complete the transaction or return an item.
I’ll also add, as written in every listing: "The seller assumes full responsibility for listing the item for sale."
So the safety of our own "doing," we have to create and manage ourselves, each and every user... ebay gives us the means to do it... you can block any communication with a certain user... you can ignore them, you have no obligation... but you can't expect ebay to do it for each of us...
Kind regards.
