Tracking fake, dishonest seller
Hello everyone, I’m reporting this issue because I fear it’s becoming a recurring scam, which benefits both the seller and the courier, and perhaps sometimes they’re even in cahoots.
On June 9, 2024 I ordered various cosmetic products from a seller, for an amount of about € 36.00.
The courier never delivered the goods, the delivery notices were a sham, since he wasn’t delivering, and in the evening the tracking claimed there was no one at the address, which was impossible because there was always someone there 24/7, as we had suspected right from the start an unusual and fraudulent behavior regarding timing and methods.
When I contacted the seller in chat I noticed a form of impunity right away in the way I brought up the service failure, as if he had already planned his steps as the scam was coming to light.
He replied that according to their tracking I was absent twice and on the third attempt there was delivery.
Nothing could be further from the truth because I was present 24/7 at the delivery address all three days, and there was not even a trace of the courier.
I wrote to the seller again (he/she replies with the usual standard line about the tracking) informing them of the failed delivery, and adding that at this point I doubt the courier’s good faith, expecting as a sign of good faith from the seller a refund, but they do not reply to me.
The seller’s disappearance is another sign of guilt, which leads me to think badly and believe that the tracking is fake, so further investigation by eBay is needed regarding the shipment verification dynamics of some clever sellers.
Probably the tracking can be manipulated.
As soon as possible I will report that the goods were not delivered and I will follow the procedures that eBay recommends for a refund, it being understood that the negative feedback will be detailed to alert anyone who comes across this type of malicious seller.
Among other things, the seller, judging by their feedback, does not seem to be new to this kind of bullying behavior; to some they even had the nerve to deny and mock the user who reported them.
I hope this post is helpful to eBay and to those who are victims of these scams.
I’ll keep you updated.

OP2 years agoWell, I’d say that “everything went well”; Beyond love, as Brunori’s song goes.
As for the feedback, after thinking about it I answered myself;
Being as fair and balanced as possible, without prejudice, for the common good.
These days, studying eBay’s rules a bit better has been a great help to me; without the right information I wouldn’t have been able to go on with the procedure that led eBay to then take action regarding the unusual situation that happened to me.
Justice as well as Morality, 5 stars to eBay.

Mentore2 years agoIt seems absurd to me that the seller could manipulate the tracking... and it’s just as absurd even to think it!
If you know how things work, once the seller hands the package over to the courier, how do you think the seller could manipulate the shipment?
Ah... maybe the delivery guy is a friend of the seller?
Well... all delivery guys are... since the one who picks it up from the seller can’t possibly be the same one who delivers it to you???
Come on... dumping this responsibility on the seller is ridiculous!
If the courier certifies that it was delivered to you, you won’t get a refund even with cannon fire!
Have a good evening.

OP2 years agoI don’t know how it could have happened, I only know that it happened, which is why I hypothesized tracking manipulation, I would leave it to eBay to investigate, I’m not the only one who has suffered this type of fraud.
It’s not so much about the amount of the sum, but about the fact that tomorrow it could happen to you or others too. These scams must not happen, if eBay can’t shed light on how this could have happened, it means there are no guarantees for continuing to shop on the platform, and so it will be the last purchase I’ll have made.
In any case, I believe eBay knows what it’s doing and will clarify things as soon as possible.
Thank you for expressing your point of view.

Mentore2 years agoPure utopia... how do you think eBay is supposed to make sense of this?
Does eBay ship items to you, by any chance?
Does it have couriers?
Is it really possible you’re so blinded that you think eBay or the seller could tamper with shipments?
Instead of thinking it might be the delivery guy not doing his job?

OP2 years agoSo if the courier makes the package disappear (or if he gets it stolen when he walks away from the van), and opportunistically gives the seller the delivery OK, are we supposed to just resign ourselves to the law of the slyest?
When progress is an end in itself in the logic of profit, there is moral regression, cultural medievalism; far from utopia!

Mentore2 years agoSo if the courier makes the package disappear (or if they get it stolen when they walk away from the van), and opportunistically gives the seller the go-ahead for the delivery adventure
I’d say a courier like that has a short life, especially when the complaints start coming in from both the buyer and the seller; the risk of losing important customers with this system is considerable...

OP2 years agoI agree, a courier like that is a risk, but only if each of us is willing to make things clear; I notice too many interventions by some users that seem aimed at discouraging the person who was scammed, and this can be interpreted by the fox and the cat as encouragement to be sneaky.
I have started the requested refund procedure with the seller; now, if I’m not mistaken, he has a week to refund, after which he will have to provide eBay with proof of his good faith, and help investigate the courier, otherwise payments will be blocked if he is also found responsible for some shortcomings in the shipping procedure.
The same thing must apply to me: being aware of the consequences of one’s actions, so loyalty and respect toward others always pay off.
Law is Justice, so give each person what is theirs.

Mentore2 years agoI repeat, yours is pure utopia.
First of all, the courier in no way can confirm delivery to the seller alone... it marks the delivery in the system and the system belongs to the courier, the seller is not the courier!
Maybe you don't understand that seller and courier are two completely separate entities, and this is not meant to discourage the person who was scammed but simply to open their eyes.
I repeat again, you can open as many reports and refund requests as you want, but if the seller reports that the courier has certified the delivery... with the appropriate document... you will never get the refund.
Kind regards.
