eBay scam
Summary: vintagestoreeoltre reported a potential scam after ordering and paying for a product on eBay. They received an email asking them to get a refund via PayPal and then reorder on Amazon or make a direct payment through WhatsApp. The author suspects it’s a scam because the seller named in the email doesn’t match the original one, and they’re trying to get a refund.
I think I am the victim of a scam, which I’m reporting for other users. After ordering and paying with PayPal, I received the following email:
You have a new message
Good morning,
we apologize for the inconvenience and for the issue related to your eBay order.
Due to some technical and organizational problems encountered in managing sales through eBay, we have decided to temporarily move our sales to the Amazon platform.
For this reason, we will proceed with the full refund of the amount you paid through eBay, using the same payment method originally used.
If you are still interested in the product you purchased, you can place the order again through Amazon. For customers who had already purchased on eBay, we are available to keep the same price already paid on eBay.
Alternatively, to keep the same price, you can make the payment directly with us, agreeing on the details via WhatsApp.
To receive all the information and verify the price reserved for you, we invite you to contact me privately on WhatsApp, simply indicating the eBay order number. I will then be able to verify your order and provide you with all the necessary instructions to proceed.
**By contacting us on WhatsApp, we can resolve the matter quickly and, once the new order is completed or the payment is verified, arrange for the product to be shipped directly to your home within about 48 hours.**
We apologize again for the inconvenience and thank you for your availability and understanding.
Best regards,
My immediate request to cancel was rejected by the "supplier" (???) who, among other things, does not have the same name that appears in the listing: BrickShopIT, which corresponds to the link:(https://www.ebay.it/str/bshopit?_trksid=p4429486.m3561.l161211.
The one who wrote instead is: newbamboo1 whose link is: newbam_hz6759scz@members.ebay.it
I want my money back, naturally.
