A buyer sends me payment for an item but then has second thoughts and asks to cancel the order
A buyer sends me payment for an item but then changes their mind and asks me to cancel their order.
I then issue them a full refund, but then I find charges of 0.35 and then 0.40 respectively.
Why am I the one who lost money?
If all buyers send payments and then change their minds, why should the Seller be the one to lose out? And what are those charges then if I canceled the order right away?

Mentore3 years agoThe first charge is from eBay, it’s the fixed fee of 0.35 that (for private sellers) is not refunded even if the order is canceled.
The second charge has nothing to do with eBay but depends on your bank, since it’s the fee the bank charged you for the refund processed. From the 40 cents, I suppose you have a Postepay Evolution.

Good thing it was a direct debit, if you had used an outgoing bank transfer you would have paid a 1 euro fee.
The Postepay evolution is convenient and affordable as a prepaid card, but it's not the best for operating like a bank checking account.
