A question about coupons?
Good morning everyone.
I’ve noticed that there are many sellers, especially private individuals, who create listings where they have you use a €5 or €10 coupon to give you back around €7/8 on Paypal.
I wanted to better understand whether this behavior, broadly speaking, does not violate eBay’s rules, since on my professional account, which is not this one where I sell random household stuff, I’m not able to sell anything even though I have an IT product from a famous brand at the lowest price on eBay, and I’m afraid of going too many weeks without selling anything with the new account, which would create a not insignificant economic loss for a new business.
Promoting products through eBay’s feature would wipe out my profits, although I think eBay’s engine strongly encourages this feature. So I wanted to try posting this kind of coupon that I see online, obviously only if it does not violate the rules, so that I can at least make the first invoices.
Speaking in terms of sales, as an occasional private seller, I’ve noticed that lately things sell less on eBay, but I didn’t think that also applied to these kinds of IT products (very much in demand), where once I had sold a similar one within half an hour of creating the listing, of much lower quality than the one I’m selling now, while the one I’m selling now I’m still waiting a couple of days later to sell.
I don’t know, I’d like to understand what’s not working on eBay because anyway, even though I have 0 feedback on the new account, I’m someone with a regular VAT number and registration with the Chamber of Commerce, having done all the necessary paperwork to stay compliant. I’d like to try selling here because I don’t want to do it on Amazon given the prohibitive low-fee rates they charge, and so I’d like to understand whether these coupons can temporarily patch up the problem of not selling and obviously, on a psychological level, even though right now I have 2 new products in the catalog, which is few, I can’t immediately spend 2k to restock new catalog products if I still haven’t earned anything, because I was hoping that at least at the beginning a cash flow would be created that would allow me to reinvest the proceeds in new products to expand the catalog selection little by little as I sold on eBay.

Mentore3 years agoTheoretically, the sale of products delivered in digital format to unauthorized sellers would be prohibited (especially to private individuals). Then here, in practice, a PayPal top-up is purchased by paying for it with an eBay discount voucher, but in fact it is done digitally and therefore outside what eBay's rules are.
I saw that one of the advertisers writes:
DIGITAL SALE
FOR WHICH NO SHIPPING IS PROVIDED
AND NO REFUNDS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES
NO SHIPPING PROVIDED
DIGITAL GOODS
But these disclaimers are all illegal; you cannot impose conditions that go against the site's rules.

OP3 years agoOk then I’ll avoid doing this stupid thing on the company eBay profile so as to avoid any possible ban. I just wanted to finally understand why, instead, it’s not possible to sell computer products (very in demand) in a decent timeframe. Since you have quite a few positive feedbacks, have you formed an idea about this? Thanks a lot for any new replies you can give me.

Anyway, to sell digital-delivery computer products, you need authorization from eBay. They will check the selling rights for what you intend to list, etc....
Items delivered in digital format must be listed in ad format in the category Other > Information products:.. If the ad format is not available on the seller's eBay site, items delivered in digital format are not allowed.....
