uncooperative user damaged goods
Good morning, I sold a coffee machine worth 630. At my own expense I took out insurance with full coverage. Unfortunately the package arrived with torn paper and damaged cardboard. The user sent only photos of the damaged package and the detail of a broken edge (just an aesthetic issue).
The courier is asking for proof of reservation at unloading, detailed photos and the shipping label.
For 5 days I have been following up, but he sends me nothing and is asking for a return through eBay.
eBay is telling me to proceed with the return, but I am standing firm in my position: 1. send documents 2. I await feedback from the insurance company 3. if everything is OK, fine, return and then refund-
I have contacted eBay several times, even in chat, but all they do is keep asking for the documents to be sent.
Meanwhile the case remains open and the funds are blocked.
I have said that I will not issue any refund (not even partial) since I took out insurance for my own protection as well
Moreover, as I reported, the user does not seem to be acting in good faith because, in addition to not sending anything, he also made up that the item does not match the one in the listing (obviously false).
Can anyone give me some advice? thanks!

Mentore2 years agoSure, if you don't want to lose money and the item, arrange the pickup at your own expense and forget about your "position"; in the face of these problems, you'll only end up hurting yourself, that's all!
Remember that if you do nothing and the buyer asks eBay to step in, it will be eBay itself that reimburses the buyer with YOUR money... remember that you authorized it when you agreed to register on eBay.
Kind regards.

I don’t have the ability to make refunds of this kind and I had protected myself with insurance
As far as I know, eBay can take the money from my future sales, if any
So, if they don’t resolve this in my favor, I’ll simply stop selling on eBay
There are sites that allow you to sell without commissions (e.g. Subito.it)
Have a nice day

Here you’re on eBay, and its rules apply, not Subito.it’s.
Do what sika700 told you, otherwise you’ll lose money and the item

Mentore2 years agoWith eBay, it doesn't matter if you don't have the ability to refund; if it can't recover the money from your bank account or from a credit card that you have to enter, it will send debt collection after you.
It's obvious they won't rule in your favor, so I'd say you should do your best to sort it out yourself before eBay does it for you.
Remember, the problem is that it's not just the fees... but everything that can happen after the sale, and Subito certainly isn't exempt either... I'd say the only solution would have been an in-person handoff and cash payment.
Best regards.
