SALE TO BE CANCELLED
Hello. I'm not an experienced user, so much so that it was the first time I had put an item up for sale.
Well, I had put an item up for sale, but then I removed the listing (or rather I thought I had removed it) because I had already sold the item on another channel. I therefore thought the listing had been removed, but instead yesterday I got a message telling me that the item had been purchased at the original price I had asked for and that the funds were on hold pending shipment.
I have already informed the buyer about the mix-up. What else do I need to do? Cancel the order or does everything automatically expire? Thanks to anyone who can tell me what to do.

listings in Buy It Now format remain active until they are explicitly closed by the seller... unfortunately eBay cannot know if you sell the item on other channels.
That said, you will therefore need to cancel the sale and, as a result, issue a refund, but since you are a new seller your funds are held for at least 15 days, so you will need to front the money out of your own pocket until the proceeds from your sale are released, at which point they will be deposited into the bank account you added to your account.
