Sale of "damaged" watch
Summary: stefano.basso313 initiated a discussion about selling a 'damaged' watch. marioelegio responded, but neither participant provided specific details or context in their comments.
Hi everyone. I sold a watch in the United States. Perfect watch, brand new, new battery with the local U.S. time set right before shipping it (I’ve only sold watches for many years, I take proper care of them and I know how to handle them).
When the buyer received it, they said the crown doesn’t move the hands. They want to return it. Unfortunately I can’t prove that the watch was perfect, although I do have photos taken when I packed it.
Okay, so I’m forced to make compromises just to avoid losing the sale. I’m offering €35 to cover the repair of the watch there (although I’m certain the “fault” isn’t mine). Offer refused. I have until tomorrow to fully refund the buyer.
Now I’m left having paid for a non-EU shipment (€30) and I’d have to pay for another one to get the watch back to me (probably broken by the buyer from pulling the crown so much)... What options do I have??
Thanks

Unfortunately, in distance sales this risk exists.
