Seller abandoned by eBay
Summary: mferrari21360 shared a negative experience selling a cellphone on eBay to a buyer in Yemen. After shipping the phone, eBay refunded the buyer because of delivery delays with DHL, leaving mferrari21360 without the money and without the phone. marioelegio responded by highlighting the risks of shipping valuable items to unstable areas and expressed regret but skepticism about the possibility of recovering the situation.
After 23 years with eBay, I fell into a trap. I sold a cell phone to an eBay user from Yemen. After messaging with this buyer, all of it on eBay and therefore traceable, I decided to sell my cell phone to him, and up to that point everything was fine. I made the sale with Buy It Now right after agreeing on a price including shipping and eBay fees of €849. The shipment was sent on May 26, 2026 with DHL and eBay showed delivery as June 3/7, 2026, let’s say doable, but then it was changed to June 24, naturally a date confirmed by DHL, but in the meantime eBay closes the transaction and refunds the buyer the money, my money since the package had been shipped and to this day never delivered. Do you think I can accept this situation? As of today I have refunded €849 plus €67 in shipping costs and moreover I don’t know whether I’ll get my cell phone back. I think eBay should personally take care of this problem 🤨

Mentore2 weeks agoLet's say that Yemen is not a suitable place to send a valuable item. Then DHL's timing (7-10 days with customs clearance) would have been optimistic even for the United Kingdom, let alone for a Gulf country in perpetual civil war.
I'm sorry, but I'm afraid there's nothing to be done
