seller threatens to refuse the return package
Good morning everyone,
I have a problem with a seller who sold me a replacement part for my bike. The description included my bike model, but when I received the part I realized it was shorter than the original and couldn’t be installed. I asked a dealership for confirmation, and they confirmed that it is not compatible.
The listing clearly states that the return shipping costs are to be covered by the seller.
When I pointed these details out to the seller, he first refused to pay for the shipping and never admitted his mistake; instead, he continues to insist that it is compatible despite the photos comparing the parts. He also refuses to look at the listing where it says the costs are his responsibility, and when I sent him a screenshot of it he replied saying that I HAD EDITED AND CHANGED EVERYTHING
But the most serious thing is that he threatened me, telling me that he would refuse the return package and would therefore deny me the refund.
I don't know how to proceed with the return or how to certify that I am sending the replacement part back in perfect condition, the same way I received it... I fear he may make up damage or something else.

Mentore2 years agoIf you’re sure the seller is at fault, open a return request for item not as described.

The seller will have 3 business days to come to their senses. If that doesn’t happen, you can then ask eBay to step in: https://www.ebay.it/help/buying/default/ask-ebay-to-step-in?id=4701

OP2 years agoTotally sure, he extended compatibility to older models. Even from the visual comparison with my original part, you can see that it has different dimensions. The dealer also confirmed it wasn’t compatible. Also, the listing clearly says free returns.
