Professional seller does not respond to request for legal warranty (defective UPS)
Hello everyone,
I need some advice on how to proceed to enforce the legal warranty on a purchase made on eBay from a professional seller.
In November 2024 I bought an UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply). Recently the device developed a serious manufacturing defect: one of the batteries is leaking fluid from a terminal (causing a burning smell and a risk of corrosion/short circuit).
What has happened so far:
I contacted the seller to report the problem. He replied telling me to contact the manufacturer directly for assistance.
I tried to contact the manufacturer several times, but I have received no response (their site is reserved for companies only, but I still tried to send the email anyway).
I contacted the seller again, after a week, on eBay to let him know that the manufacturer was not responding and to ask for direct assistance, as предусмотрed by the legal warranty of conformity.
Since I sent these messages (starting in July), the seller has completely disappeared and is no longer responding to me at all.
The legal warranty expires in October. I’m afraid the seller is trying to “buy time” so the deadlines run out without resolving the problem, since the defect is clearly a manufacturing one (I have a second identical UPS bought in the same order and placed under the same conditions that works perfectly).
I can’t find the direct button in my account to open a formal dispute or to speak with a human operator, probably because the standard “return” period has expired, but the legal warranty is still valid.
Does anyone know how I can force contact with an eBay support agent so the platform steps in and makes the seller handle the repair/replacement
Thanks for your attention, everyone!
