Scammed seller
I sold a high-quality used coffee machine, brand LaPavoni. The Danish buyer wanted to pay for the cheapest shipping from Italy, even though I had recommended the one with tracking and insurance. The item arrived slightly damaged; the buyer picked up the package even though it was damaged in one corner. He asked for a refund even though I had offered him a reimbursement that covered half of the repair, which he said would cost 200 euros. He asked me to send him 104 euros to ship the item back to me. I asked him to look for a cheaper shipping option, but he never replied again, and we opened a dispute followed by an appeal. Ebay did not support me at all in my dispute; in fact, some of the customer assistance people who contacted me made it clear that it would have been better for me to accept all the conditions imposed by Ebay, that is, fully refund the customer and pay both the outgoing and return shipping costs, and keep the broken machine. After a few days they refunded the buyer, and I immediately asked him to send the broken item back to me. Of course he replied that Ebay had authorized him to keep it and now he is having it repaired. I have already lost 40 euros in shipping costs and a machine worth 350 euros. In addition, Ebay wants to charge me the fees. I did not sleep for several nights; I felt cheated by the buyer with Ebay's complicity. I am not a professional seller, my item is unique, almost to be considered antique. Ebay mistreats sellers and is completely in favor of the buyer. Can someone give me a suggestion on how to get my machine back, even if broken? Thanks

Mentore3 years agoLet's start from the fact that since you refunded the buyer, the car has gone back to being your property. If he refuses to return it to you (at your expense), you can report him for misappropriation of funds (though I doubt this complaint would have any effect in another country).
Regarding what happened unfortunately I have to tell you that the responsibility is entirely yours:
A completely uninformed seller, about how eBay works, means that the dispute is closed .... completely in the buyer's favor.
I'm sorry but there's very little left to do now.

OP3 years agoI am an occasional seller, I don't have all your experience, for this eBay should have protected me too.

Mentore3 years agoEbay protects those who follow its rules... unfortunately it can't protect those who make mistakes... sorry for what happened...
Kind regards.

Mentore3 years agoGood morning,
you simply should have listened to eBay support, which had rightly advised you to "accept all the conditions imposed", arrange the pickup at your own expense to get your item back.
Remember that in any case the shipping was your responsibility and liability... let’s say that you made the first mistake; if in the listing you entered the cost of just one shipping option, the buyer was obliged to pay that amount, nothing else...
Let’s say you scammed yourself by not accepting what eBay advised you to do.
Now, to get your item back, contact the buyer, arrange the shipping (things you should have done before too...) hoping the latter is cooperative.
Kind regards.

OP3 years agoYour response is very biased, you didn’t spend even one word in my favor. I repeat, my sale was occasional and the item is unique, vintage, I have no experience and eBay should also protect sellers, who are often scammed considering the many reports I’ve read on this community. I will never use their platform again and I will discourage anyone from doing so. I’m deeply disappointed, disappointed, disappointed.

Mentore3 years agoOf course I put in a good word for you: sorry for what happened!
But there’s nothing more to say, because, as already written, you made a series of mistakes... you can’t expect applause for this if you don’t take away a lesson for a future sale... if there will be one... but not just on ebay, any platform you use, if you’re not careful about what you do, you can always run into problems.
So don’t take offense, but use this conversation as help.
Kind regards.

Mentore3 years agoIn the feedback you left for other sellers, you often complained about slow shipping, which is not attributable to the seller anyway (but they “have to put up with it” all the same), and for a high-quality used item you suggest cheap shipping, leaving the buyer to choose? How could eBay have protected you from a bad choice on your part from the start?
