sellers and warranties
Purchased in October, energy storage unit for solar panels. Used little during the 3 winter months, now it no longer works at all. eBay does not want to respond beyond three months, but the product warranty is 2 years. I contacted the seller who asks me for an email and contact info that I cannot send because eBay does not allow messages containing contact details. And this seller every three days sends me the same requests again with no action taken. I even posted the video of the malfunction on YouTube as requested... but he does not send the documents for the return and now I am close to filing a complaint against both the seller and eBay as guarantor of the sale.. what should I do? the seller hides behind eBay's indirect contact methods. (And how should eBay present itself in relation to warranty periods that are very different from its rules? thanks

Mentore3 years agoYou're making a lot of confusion.
The EU warranty, that is, the 24-month legal warranty, is a legal obligation only for professional sellers with their registered office in an EU country.
Ebay didn't sell you anything and its warranty, during the transaction (ebay customer guarantee), is only about making sure you receive what you bought and that it matches the listing.
All professional sellers must indicate in every listing their registered office, VAT number, and contact information (phone and email). So all you have to do is get that email from any listing by the seller and contact them directly.
Obviously, if the seller is from outside the EU, there is no warranty at all.
