Advice on legal warranty
Summary: domg73 says they bought a GeForce RTX graphics card that broke after 5 months. They tried to contact the German seller for warranty support, without success, and found out that the manufacturer can’t help because the product is bulk/OEM. ricambimalta1981 suggests using PayPal to dispute the transaction within 180 days. domg73 has already tried this route, but the claim is being challenged on the grounds that the report was opened more than 30 days after delivery, without taking into account that the fault occurred months later.
Hello,
In April I bought a NEW Geforce RTX 5060 Ti 16Gb Bulk/OEM from a German professional seller.
Unfortunately the card broke down after just 5 months, so I’m trying to contact the seller to use the legal warranty, but I’m not getting any reply.
I also tried contacting him directly at the email address listed on the invoice... no reply.
So I tried to register the product on the manufacturer’s website (MSI), but that’s not possible because it’s not a retail product.
I open a ticket on the manufacturer’s website explaining the situation and they tell me that the warranty has to go through the shop that sold it to me.
Now I’m left with a broken product, paid €500, still under warranty, and I don’t know who to send it back to for repair/replacement.
An absurd situation.
Any advice?

·3 weeks agoSince with eBay you can’t intervene directly through the site’s automatic options, because more than 30 days have passed. eBay won’t force the seller to refund you, and customer support will tell you that the transaction is outside the maximum protection period.
If you paid with PayPal, go to the site and open the dispute form and report the problem, you have up to 180 days

OP3 weeks agoAlready done... explained everything... they're contesting the fact that I opened the claim more than 30 days after delivery... but what if the product broke down after 5 months???
