I read the new features for sellers that will soon take effect; as often happens, eBay presents these changes with enthusiasm and a lot of emphasis, but they often end up as additional costs for sellers. Also, in my opinion, a real problem is never addressed, namely the buyer’s power to penalize the seller unfairly. For example, I had suggested preventing buyers from leaving neutral or negative feedback if at least one message had not been exchanged between the two; this could have encouraged buyers to stop acting as “judges” and instead to communicate with sellers in cases of incomplete satisfaction. The suggestion doesn’t seem to have been taken on board In my more than twenty years of experience, I have seen, like many of you, negative or neutral feedback left for the most unbelievable reasons; I myself received a neutral “The shipment was delivered late because I was never home”... 🙂 I block a buyer like that, but to me this “taints” the platform and pushes sellers to look for other channels; moreover, ratings like this contribute to lowering the reliability level of a seller, with the resulting, soon-to-be-effective change, increase in costs. Let’s remember that the phrase “The customer is always right” was invented by a customer.
