Credit to an inactive card
Hi everyone, I’ll start by saying that the Postepay card linked to the credits had expired and it seems that Ebay automatically saved the replacement card for it (different card number and account) but it is not active yet. Now, after a sale, the buyer paid regularly on this card.. but how is that possible? Basically, I have an Ebay credit on an inactive card with a 0 balance! The item was shipped and received, I contacted the buyer who confirmed that they paid regularly without any issues via PayPal as is also actually shown on my Ebay. I’ll go to the post office as soon as possible but honestly I can’t figure out where this money could have ended up, could it be returned to the buyer? Has this ever happened to you? Thanks

·1 year agoMy experience with this is limited to my credit card. I had to replace it because I lost it, on Amazon I had placed an order for which I had then requested a return, the bank explained to me that once a card has expired\blocked it can no longer be used for payments but remains valid (I don’t know for how long) for chargebacks\refunds.

OP1 year agoThe thing is that the replacement card for the one expiring is sent about 1 month before (as confirmed by Poste) and in the meantime on the Postepay app it is actually added as "to be activated". Unfortunately, due to a change of address I haven't received the replacement card yet and it is practically impossible to use it; the fact is that in my PayPal wallet I find a Postepay s.p.a with the last 4 digits of the account of this not-active card and I think it was automatically saved in place of the old one because I physically don't have the card, this also shows up on the sepa credit from ebay, even now in the ebay payment status it shows me a green badge with the funds available to be transferred. Should I contact Poste, PayPal, ebay?
Thanks

Paypal has nothing to do with this case because you need to receive the money from ebay.
PostePay Evolution is the prepaid card with IBAN from Poste Italiane enabled for payments and withdrawals on the Mastercard network.
So if you don't renew it in time, what happens?
You'd need to ask poste italiane whether that iban remains active to receive credits or NOT.
If it remains active, as soon as you renew the card you will have those credits available on the account.
If the expired card also deactivates the IBAN, the ebay payment will not go through.
In conclusion, you need to contact poste italiane and sort out the postepay renewal issue.
Best regards.

·1 year agoThe Postepay Evolution has to be renewed when it expires, it does not renew automatically.
So if it has expired, it means it is no longer active to receive payments or to pay.
I’m pretty sure the payment that Ebay sent you will be rejected.
Anyway, try going to the post office to ask whether they can reactivate the Postepay Evolution with the same IBAN so you won’t have to go through the whole process of enabling the account on Ebay again.
Kind regards.
