It’s been a long time since I sold on eBay.
I’ve just started filling out a new listing, and under shipping an insurance automatically appears (30 euros?)
What does it mean? That when I go to the post office to ship, do I need to add insurance to the package?

As an active seller and one enabled for the new sales regulations, I can tell you that the 30-euro insurance can be purchased in any auction at any selling price.
I took a look at an item I have for sale at 70 euros and I also get this 30-euro wording.
30 euros that correspond neither to the coverage of the item for sale nor to the maximum coverage offered by the ebay+packlink service.
The 30-euro insurance wording also appears on services such as standard registered mail, which are services that packlink does not offer.
For this reason, in my opinion, it is simply an option provided by the chosen service, like insured registered mail or insured postedelivery web, etc.
It does not mean that you MUST insure if you decide to use this service; it means that as an OPTION the service offers insurance as an option.
If you choose the ebay+packlink service, this insurance is included in the price up to 75 euros; if you choose to ship through the post office, it means the insurance is offered but must be paid separately.
In any case, if this wording bothers you, you can opt for the 24-hour courier service or the 3 -5 day courier service, which do not have this 30-euro insurance wording.

·3 years agoRegarding your question about insurance, the user Morgana10 has already replied to you.
Since you say it’s been a long time since you sold on eBay, I’d like to remind you if you haven’t already done so that in order to receive your sales funds you must link to your eBay account an IBAN from a current account or card with IBAN to which eBay will credit the money from your sales. Otherwise you will never receive them because sellers can no longer receive money either on Paypal (which for now remains only for buyers) or through any other payment methods they have chosen.
I also remind you that, as a seller who has been inactive for quite a while, you are considered a new seller, that is, an occasional seller, and therefore your sales funds will remain blocked for a minimum of 14 days.

·3 years agoOnly if you use the eBay Shipping Manager the insurance (with a limited amount max 75 euros) with standard shipping is included in the price (you don’t pay for it) obviously for items not included in the list of Prohibited/Uninsurable Items (such as furs, original works of art, tickets and perishable goods, etc.. ) it is reported here https://support-ebay.packlink.com/hc/it/articles/209085085-Qual-%C3%A8-la-copertura-del-mio-invio-

Also consider that you will then need to prove the actual value of the contents of the package (with an invoice, purchase receipt, or another suitable document bearing the name of the same shipped item) otherwise the insurance is not effective. For a private individual it is difficult to have a valid document for the actual value of the item (which is not necessarily the selling price).

In practice, in my opinion it’s useless, however since it’s included I don’t think you can opt out.
